The Wendls' house is 70 years old and while it's filled with flourishes of their personal, vintage style, it's needs a lot of work. Sam Wendl's military service overseas prevented him from having the chance to repair what the house needs, much less to create the home in their image. Friends, family, and all the whole town pitched in with Brunelleschi and The Ellen DeGeneres Show to completely rebuild the exterior, remake the entire first floor, and give them a backyard to house all of their rescue dogs.
